slope \: of \: a \: line \:  = x2 \:  - x1 \div y2 - y1 \\  \\  - 2 - 1 \div k - ( - 1) =  - 2 \\  - 3 =  - 2k - 2 \\  - 3 + 2 = - 2  k \\ 1 \div 2 = k

we know that

slope of a line

 =  \frac{y2 - y1}{x2 - x1}

then according to the given data

  - 2 =  \frac{k + 1}{ - 2 - 1}

6 = k + 1

then ,

k = 5
