g(x) = x - 2 = 0

g(x) = x = 2 _____ eq.(i)

p(x) = x^3 - 2x + 3k _____ eq.(ii)

By using eq.(i) in eq.(ii), we get

p(x) = (2)^3 - 2(2) + 3k = 0

p(x) = 8 - 4 + 3k = 0

p(x) = 4 + 3k = 0

p(x) = k = -4/3

Answer:

The value of k in p(x) x^3 - 2x + 3k where x = 2, is -4/3.
