triangle ABD is a right angled triangle

hypotenuse=AD=10cm

leg1 = AB = 6cm

leg2 = BD = ?

using pythagoras theorem,

hypotenuse²=sum of squares of other 2 sides

AD²=AB²+BD²

10²=6²+BD²

100=36+BD²

BD²=100-36

BD²=64

BD²=8²

BD = 8cm
