Required Answer

✒ GiveN:

  • First 15 natural numbers.

✒ To FinD:

  • Find the mean of those numbers...?
  • Find the Range of those numbers....?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

How to solve?

For solving the question, First we should know the meaning and formula of Range and Mean:

  • Range is the difference between the upper limit and lower limit of the given data.
  • And, Mean is the average of numbers given in the data, It is calculated by,

 \large{ \boxed{ \sf{Mean =  \frac{Sum \: of \: observations}{Number \: of \: observations} }}}

☃️ So, We can now solve the above question.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution:

For 1st 15 natural numbers,

  • Upper limit/Number = 15
  • Lower limit/Number = 1

Finding Range of the data,

➝ Range = 15 - 1

➝ Range = 14

☀️ Range of the data = 14

Now, Finding mean

  • We need, sum of observations
  • No. of observations

Sum of first 'n' natural numbers,

➝ n(n + 1) / 2

➝ 15 × 16 / 2

➝ 15 × 8

➝ 120

No. of observations,

➝ (15 - 1) + 1

➝ 15

Then, Mean of the data,

➝ Mean = 120 / 15

➝ Mean = 8

☀️ Mean of the given data = 8

⚘ Hence, solved!!
