Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

4,6,7,9,5,21,8,76

To find :-

Find mean ,median, mode ?

Solution:-

Mean :-

Given observations are :4,6,7,9,5,21,8,76

Sum of the observations

= 4+6+7+9+5+21+8+76

= 136

Number of observations = 8

We know that

Mean = Sum of the observations/ Number of all observations

=> Mean = 136/8

=> Mean = 17

Therefore , Mean = 17

Median :-

Given observations are :4,6,7,9,5,21,8,76

On writing them into ascending order

=> 4,5,6,7,8,9,21,76

Number of observations = 8

8 is an even number

We know that

If the number of observations is 'n', an even number then the median of the given data is

The average of (n/2) th and (n/2)+1th observations

n/2 th observation = 8/2 = 4th observation = 7

(n/2)+1th observations = 5th observation = 8

Median = Average of 4th and 5th observations

=>Median = (7+8)/2

=> Median = 15/2

=> Median = 7.5

Therefore, Median = 7.5

Mode :-

Given observations are :4,6,7,9,5,21,8,76

On writing them into ascending order

=> 4,5,6,7,8,9,21,76

No number occurs more than one time

So, There is no mode for the given data

Therefore, Mode = No

Answer :-

Mean for the given data = 17

Median for the given data = 7.5

Mode for the given data = No

Used formulae:-

  • Mean = Sum of the observations/ Number of all observations
  • If the number of observations is 'n', an even number then the median of the given data isThe average of (n/2) th and (n/2)+1th observations
  • The most frequent occuring observation of the given data is called the mode.
