Given:-

  • Mass of NaoH (W)= 50g
  • Molar mass of NaoH(M) = 40 g

Volume of water(V') = 100 ml

In order to convert mL into L simply divide by 1000

  • Volume of water(V') = 0.1 L

To find :-

  • Molarity

How to solve :-

  • First step: to find the moles of solute (NaOH )
  • Second step: to find the volume of solute in the solution ( in L)
  • Third step : To find the total volume of the solution
  • Fourth step : To substitute the values in the formula

Solution :-

First Step :-

⟹ n = W / M

here ,

  • n = moles
  • W = mass of NaOH
  • M = molar of NaOH

⟹ n = 50 / 40

⟹ n = 1 .25

Second Step :

we know that  ,

⟹ n = V / 22.4 L

here ,

  • n = moles of NaOH
  • V = volume of NaOH
  • V(STP) = 22.4 L = Volume at STP

⟹ 1.25 = V / 22.4

⟹ V = 1.25 x 22.4

⟹ V = 28 L

Third step :

⟹ Total volume ( V " ) = V + V' = 0.1 + 22.4 = 22.5 L

Fourth Step :

Molarity is given by the formula ,

⟹ M = n / V "

here ,

  • M = Molarity
  • n = moles of NaOH
  • V" = volume of solution

⟹ M = 1.25 / 22.5

⟹ M = 0.06 M

The molarity of the solution is 0.06 M
