Hi !!
The Resistors are connected in parallel .
Hence ,
R₁ = 2 Ω
R₂ = 5 Ω
1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂
= 1/2 + 1/5
= 5/10 + 2/10 = 7/10
1/R = 7/10
7R = 10
R = 10/7
= 1.42 Ω
The Resistors are connected in parallel .

If R₁ and R₂ are connected in a parallel connection
Effective resistance (R) 1/R=1/R₁ + 1/R₂
Here R₁=2Ω R₂=5Ω
1/R =1/2+1/5 =7/10
R=10/7 = 1.428Ω
