mass of water (w1 ) = 200 g. Molar mass of CaCl2 (M2) = 111 g mol-1. Molal Elevation Constant = 0.512 K kg mol-1

Using the formula,

number of moles,n=given mass,m/molar mass,M

Molar mass of CaCl2= atomic mass of Ca + 2×atomic mass of Cl

=40 + 2×35.5=40 + 71=111g/mole

Thus, n=200/111

n =1.80 moles
