Answer:

Given :

diameter = 4.2m

radius = 1/2d

= 1/2 × 4.2

= 2.1 m

height =4.5m

To Find : CSA of closed cylindrical petrol stroge tank and how much steel used

Explanation:

Procedure :

CSA = 2 × 22/7 × r × h

= 2 × 22/7 × 2.1 × 4.5

= 59.4 m^2

TSA = 2 × 22/7 × r ( r + h )

= 2 × 22/7 × 2.1 ( 2.1 + 4.5 )

= 44 × 0.3 × 6.6

= 87.12 m^2

Let actual area of the steel used = x m^2

( 1/12 of x ) steel was wasted .

area of steel that wasted = 1/12 × x

= x/12 m^2

area of steel used = x - x/12

= 11x/12 m^2

11x/12 = 87.12

x = 8712/100 × 12/11

x = 95.04 m^2

Thus the actual steel used was 95.04 m^2 .
