SOLUTION:

We have 1/3 and 1/2

L.C.M. of 3 and 2 is 6

To make denominators equal i.e., 6,

We multiply the numerator and denominator of 1/3 by 2 and that of 1/2 by 3, we get

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{1}{3} \times \dfrac{2}{2} = \dfrac{2}{6} }$

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{1}{2} \times \dfrac{3}{3} = \dfrac{3}{6} }$

To insert one rational number, we multiply the numerators and Denominators of both the fractions by 2, we get

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{2}{6} \times \dfrac{2}{2} = \dfrac{4}{12} }$

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{3}{6} \times \dfrac{2}{2} = \dfrac{6}{12} }$
