Answer:

Haridwar is one of the most visited pilgrimage places in India. It is located at the banks of river Ganges  and is dotted with many Ashrams. It hosts fairs throughout the year, some of the famous fairs are kumbh Mela, Somvati Amavasya Mela. In ancient Hindu texts it is called Kapila, Gangadwar and Mayapuri. Haridwar is the gateway to the Chardham. Nearby attractions such as  chanda Devi temple, Udan Khatola and chilla wildlife sanctuary are also famous among the tourists.

People go to Haridwar to offer prayers and take a dip in holy Ganges. The shops in Haridwar sell all type of goods needed by the tourists, e.g prasads, eatables etc.
