Eg: Angkor in National flag of Cambodia

Usually the symbols used by many nationalist movements are their own national flags.

This is to demonstrate their belief in their own self-determination and recognition as a legitimate nation, whether to promote their own independence or national unity in an already-existing independent country. This is very similar to patriotism, which is a psycho-cultural or emotional attachment to one’s country, where people will display their national flags for whichever political reason or simply for pride in one’s nation.

There is no universal symbol for nationalism, nothing comparable to the likes of the use of the red flag in association with socialism or something similar in terms of other ideologies, only localised symbolism in terms of their countries or culture, and that is usually in the form of their flags.

Most nationalist movements will therefore no doubt use their flag or an image which represents something culturally in their nation as their own symbol
