Alluvial soil can be can be classified into two groups on the basis of its age- the khaddar and the bhangar. The latter is the older alluvium and is composed of lime nodules or kanker and it's composition is clayey. Khadar tends to be more fertile as new layers are deposited year after year during the monsoon season.
