A PLANET IS AN ASTRONOMICAL OBJECT THAT ORBITS A STAR OR SUN, AND THAT IT BIG ENOUGH TO BE ROUNDED BY ITS OWN GRAVITY. THE WORD "PLANET" COMES FROM THE GREEK WORD "astēr planētēs" MEANING 'WANDERING STAR'.
A COMET IS MOSTLY MADE UP OF ICE, CARBON DIOXIDE AND METHANE. THEIR PATH AROUND THE SUN IS NORMALLY ELIPTICAL, ALTHOUGH SOMETIMES THEY COME IN AND GO OFF OUT OF THE SUN'S GRAVITATIONAL PULL.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PLANET AND A COMET IS THAT A PLANET CAN SUPPORT LIFE, BUT A COMET CAN'T BECAUSE IT IS TOO COLD AND IT MOVES TOO FAST.
