in normal photosynthesis the colour pigment chlorophyll is used for green leaves. but for different coloured leaves anthocyanins pigment is used.

Explanation:

In a normal plant where green colour leaves is there chlorophyll is used when the process of photosynthesis.

In a plant where colours of leaves is different the pigment named anthocyanins is used.

so so since they have chlorophyll, they can carry out photosynthesis. However some plants have lots of compounds called anthrocyanis which can be red or purple in colour. if a plant has anthrocyanis the purple will block out the green colour even though the chlorophyll is still there
