First, the caste system is a four-fold categorical hierarchy of the Hindu religion
1. Brahmins on top. Usually they were priests or teachers.
2. followed in order, by Kshatriyas who were rulers or warriors.
3. then Vaishyaswho were farmers or traders or merchants.
4. lastly Shudras who were labourers.
In addition, there is a fifth group of "Outcastes" people who do unclean work and are outside the four-fold system
