Given equation :

p(x) = x⁶ + x⁵ + x⁴ + x³ + x + 1

  • x + 2 is not the factor of p(x)

• Reason :

x + 2 = 0

⇒ x = - 2

  • Replacing Values

p(-2) = -2⁶ -2⁵ -2⁴ -2³ -2 + 1

⇒ 64 - 32 + 16 - 2 + 1

⇒ 32 + 16 - 1

= 47 (remainder)

  • since,

rremainder is not equal to zero

so, x + 2 is not a factor of given equation
