Taxes are mainly of 2 types direct taxes and indirect taxes.
direct taxes are those imposed on a person. the taxes have to be paid by individual. the burden of taxation cannot be passed on others. for example- income tax. indirect taxes are those which are directly imposed on sellers who can pass the burden of taxation on the final consumers. for example- value added tax, sales tax, excise duties on tobacco, alcohol, oil etc.
