Given : Figure, where ∠A = 5x - 15° and ∠B = 2x + 21°

To find : Value of angle A and B

Solution :

Clearly from the given figure, ∠A and ∠B are forming the alternate exterior angles.

We know that alternate exterior angles formed by two parallel lines are always equal.

Therefore,

⇒ ∠A = ∠B

⇒ 5x - 15° = 2x + 21°

⇒ 5x - 2x = 21° + 15°

⇒ 3x = 36°

⇒ x = 36°/3

⇒ x = 12°

So, the required angles are :-

  • ∠A = 5x - 15° = 5(12°) - 15° = 60° - 15° = 45°
  • ∠B = 2x + 21° = 2(12°) + 21° = 24° + 21° = 45°

Therefore both ∠A and ∠B are of 45°
