Students are suggested to collect stories and songs with the help of the teachers, libraries, newspapers and internet. It should be kept in mind that the revolt of 1857 was the first known revolt against the British administration. It was the rule of discrimination adopted by the British government

I am from Mewat and I met an old man from my village who told me some stories regarding the 1857 Revolt. He told me how the sepoys and people of Mewat bravely fought the British and captured their arsenals. The people constantly fought for three days and later more reinforcement came in the rescue of British army and finally British succeeded in quelling the rebellion in Mewat.

As I further told him about the Rebellion in other regions of India, he replied that people where the uprising took place fought shoulder to shoulder with the sepoys. Farmers actively participated in the uprising and thus Indian including all castes and religions showed great valor but British finally succeeded in suppressing the Revolt.
