Given : triangle formed by x-axis, y-axis and x + y = 1.

To Find :  area of the triangle

Solution:

x axis => y = 0

y axis => x = 0

intersection ( 0 , 0)

y = 0  ,  x + y = 1.

=> ( 1, 0)

x = 0  ,  x + y = 1.

=> ( 0, 1)

Points are (0 , 0) (0 , 1) & ( 1, 0)

Area = (1/2) | 0 (1 - 0) + 0(0 - 0) + 1 ( 0 - 1) |

= (1/2) | 0 + 0 - 1 |

= (1/2) 1

= 1/2 sq units

area of the triangle bounded by x-axis, y-axis and x + y = 1 is  1/2 sq units
