Remember displacement and distance are completely two different things. Distance is how much you travelled in total and displacement is how far you are from the starting point.

The distance would be 35 km but the displacement is a bit different.

To find displacement of the bus use the Pythagorean theorem.

Remember physics uses a lot of vectors this will really help if you understand this.

Since you travelled 10km east 20 south and 5 north that means you are 10 km East and 15 km south from the starting point thus the total displacement is

Displacement^2= 10 km East^2+ 15km south^2

Displacement^2=100+225

Displacement =square root of 325

Which is around 18 km that is the displacement of the bus
