let  the  person  travel  x  hours  by  bus.  so  he  travels  6 - x  hours  by

train.  so  the  equation  to  find  x  is

40 x + 70 ( 6 - x ) = 360     or   40 x - 70 x + 420 = 360  or

30 x = 60,  hence  x = 2. hence  distance covered by train = 70* 4= 280

Answer  280 km

Answer:

The distance traveled by train is 280 km

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that A person covers 360 km in 6 hours.

Let x be the time taken to travel by bus

So, time taken to travel  by train = 6-x

Speed of bus = 40 kmph

Speed of train = 70kmph

Distance = Speed \times Time

We are given taht the total distance is of 360 km

So, Total distance = Distance traveled by bus + distance traveled by Train

So,360 = 40x+70(6-x)

360 = 40x+420-70x

360 = 420-30x

60=30x

x = 2

So, Distance traveled by train = 70(6-2) =70(4)=280 km

Hence The distance traveled by train is 280 km
