Answer:

The median is 9 .

Explanation:

GIVEN- 5,6,6,7,9,9,11,13,8,12

TO FIND- The median of the observations.

SOLUTION - First write all the numbers in ascending so we can't get any problem in end of the question.

Ascending order- 5, 6, 6 , 7 , 8, 9,9, 11 , 12 , 13

here the total number of terms are even

Median= ( n/2+ 1) th term

(10/2 + 1) th term

= (5 +1 ) th term

= 6 th term

now we see in the ascending order that on 6 th number which number is coming and that is 9 so the median is 9 of these number .

there is two formulas to find median if the number is even than (n/2+1 ) th term and in the odd n/2 th term so there is different formulas used so we have to know that which is formulas is used where because of the total number are even then we used even formulas and if the total number of terms is odd then we use odd formula.

and we have to know one thing and that is we should know that th term means which are on the place of number .

FINAL ANSWER - The median is 9 .
