1. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has entered the area of Bioterrorism Defense after the September 11, 2001.

2. The Alliance launched specific initiatives to fight against terrorism.

3. Earlier, NATO did look into the threat of biological attacks as part of the Cold War, between the former Soviet Union and the United States and their respective allies, with a focus on aggression from the former.
