Step-by-step explanation:

let the natural number ne n

so three consecutive natural numbers are n,n+1,n+2.

n+n+1+n+2=36

3n+1+2=36

3n+1=36-2=34

3n=34-1=33

n=33/3

n=11

n+1=11+1=12

n+2=11+2=13

Answer:

(i) Let the first consecutive number be x.

Let the second consecutive number be x + 1.

Let the third consecutive number be x + 2.

According to the question,

x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 36

3x + 3 = 36

3x = 36 - 3

3x = 33

x = 33/3

x = 11

So, First consecutive no = x = 11

Second consecutive no = x + 1 = 11 + 1 = 12

Third consecutive no = x + 2 = 11 + 2 = 13

(ii) According to the question, the equation will be

3x + 12 = 5x + 2

12 - 2 = 5x - 3x

10 = 2x

10/2 = x

5 = x

Therefore, the number is 5.
