Fossil fuels such as coal, gas, oils and wood are some of the energy sources in India. However extensive consumption of these fossil fuels can lead to great harm to our environment. The burning of fossil fuels results in the emission of the carbon dioxide gas which causes a rise in the temperature of the earth. Therefore, to overcome the problem of pollution India is heading towards the more eco-friendly resources such as wind energy, hydro energy and solar energy.

Solar energy is assumed to be the most extensively employed renewable energy resource in India in the next fifty years from now.  Other renewable resources such as nuclear energy, energy from motion, wind energy, hydro energy are also important resources that India is heading to use.
