To understand the steps refer to these points-

1. First of all , we make pairs of two from right side.

2. In the given number 7921, that pair is of 79 , and 21.

3. Now we will find a number whose square is nearest or equal to 79 , the first pair.

4. The nearest number to 79 which is a perfect square is 64 which is square of 8, we have obtained first digit of square root of 7921 I.e. 8.

5. Now subtract square of 8 which is 64 from first pair that is 79 , write the remainder below and copy down the next pair just after it.

6. Now on left side ( see the fig.) we will add 8+8 , we get 16 .

7. Our next pair digit of square root of 7921 will be 16_ × _ , the number which will fill the _ is our next digit of square root of 7921.

8. In 16_×_ , the number which will filled in _ must make the product = 1521 .
