We are given the ratio is  2 : 5

let the literate persons be = 2x

illiterate person  become  =  5x

Difference  =  5x - 2x

We are given that the difference is 9000

5x - 2x = 9000

3x = 9000

x = 9000/3

x = 3000

Literate persons = 2*3000 = 6000

Illiterate persons = 5*3000 = 15000

we can form equation

2x + 9000 = 5x         and solve to get the answer
