there is a poem that is similar to Shakespeare's"NOT MARBLE NOR THE GILDED MONUMENTS" meaning wise and that is PB SHELLEY'S "OZYMANDIAS":(the text of the poem is below)

I met a traveler from an antique land

Who said: Two vast and trunk-less legs of stone

Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,

Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown

And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command

Tell that its sculptor well those passions read

Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,

The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.

And on the pedestal these words appear:

"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:

Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"

Nothing beside remains: round the decay

Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,

The lone and level sands stretch far away.

As Shakespeare's "NOT MARBLE NOR THE GILDED MONUMENT"throws light on the theme of eternity of literature ,ravages of time and the human tendency to perpetuate their memory and gain more and more power and pelf, similarly Pb Shelly's  "OZYMANDIAS" very clearly reflects the theme of  short life span of human glory, grandeur, power and pelf and describes time as "MIGHTY DESTROYER"

Hope it helps............
