“Bt cotton” is taken from the strains of Bacillus thuringiensis (bacterium) is a pest resistant and genetically modified cotton variety.
The following are the precautions one has to follow while using the Bt cotton for planting.
Bt cotton seeds are more expensive than the other non Bt cotton seeds.
It works effectively only upto 120 days. Since it is very toxic for first few days,farmers should be very careful in handling it.
It is not effective against the sucking pests and plant bugs etc
