p(x) = x {}^{2}  + x - 2x + 7

p( \frac{1}{2} ) = ( \frac{1}{2} ) {}^{2}  + ( \frac{1}{2} ) - 2( \frac{1}{2} ) + 7 \\  =  \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{1}{2}  -  \frac{2}{2}  + 7 \\  =  \frac{1}{4}  +  \frac{2}{4}  -  \frac{4}{4}  +  \frac{28}{4}  \\  =  \frac{27}{4}
