Answer:-

The principal is Rs. 625.

Step-by-step explanation:-

To Find:-

  • The principal ( P )

Given:-

  • Simple Interest ( S.I. ) = Rs. 20
  • Rate ( R ) = 2% per annum
  • Time ( T ) = 20 months

➝ 20 / 12 years ( ∵ 1 year = 12 months )

➝ ∴ 1.6 years

Solution:-

We know that,

Principal= ( Simple interest × 100 )/( Rate × Time )

By putting the values,

Principal ( P ) = ( 20 × 100 ) / ( 2 × 1.6 )

P = ( 20 × 100 ) / ( 3.2 )

P = 2000 / 3.2

P = Rs. 625

Required Answer:-

Hence, Principal is Rs. 625.

Remember:-

Simple Interest= ( Principal × Rate × Time ) / 100

Time=( 100 × Simple interest )/(Principal × Rate)

Rate= ( 100 × Simple interest )/(Principal × Time)

Amount = Principal + Simple interest.
