2 {x}^{2}  - 3x - 14 = 0 \\ 2 {x}^{2}  - 7x + 4x - 14 = 0 \\ 2x(x -7 ) + 2(x - 7) = 0 \\ (x - 7)(2x  + 2) = 0 \\ x - 7 = 0 \: or \: 2x + 2 = 0 \\ x = 7 \: or \: x =  - 1
