SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The quadrant in which θ lies such that sinθ < 0 and tanθ > 0

EVALUATION

We have to find the quadrant in which θ lies such that sinθ < 0 and tanθ > 0

Since sinθ < 0

⇒ sinθ is negative

⇒ θ lies in third quadrant or Fourth Quadrant

Again tanθ > 0

⇒ tanθ is positive

⇒ θ lies in first quadrant or third quadrant

Hence from above we can conclude that

θ lies in third quadrant

FINAL ANSWER

θ lies in third quadrant
