Let,

→ b = 4/7

→ x = A rational number between a and b .

So,

$\rightarrow\sf \: x = \frac{a + b}{2} \\ \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x \: = \frac{ \frac{2}{7} + \frac{4}{7} }{2} \\ \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x = \frac{ \frac{(2 + 4)}{7} }{2} \\ \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x = \frac{ \frac{6}{7} }{2} \\ \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x = \frac{\cancel6}{7} \times \frac{1}{ \cancel2} \\ \\ \rightarrow \sf \: \: x = \boxed{\bf \: \frac{3}{7}}$

therefore, a rational number between 2/7 and 4/7 is equal to 3/7 .
