5 rational numbers between -4/7 and 2/7. Because we have to find 5 rational numbers we multiply both the rational numbers with 6 in the denominator and in the numerator. therefore -18/42, -11/42, 1/42, 3/42, 10/42 are five rational numbers.

To Find :- A rational number between 2/7 and 4/7 .

Concept used :-

  • Numbers which can be written in the form of p/q where q is not equal to zero are called as rational numbers .
  • A rational number between a and b = (a + b) ÷ 2 .

Solution :-

Let,

→ a = 2/7

→ b = 4/7

→ x = A rational number between a and b .

So,

\rightarrow\sf \: x =  \frac{a + b}{2} \\  \\  \rightarrow\sf \: x \:  =  \frac{ \frac{2}{7}  +  \frac{4}{7} }{2} \\  \\  \rightarrow\sf \: x =  \frac{ \frac{(2 + 4)}{7} }{2}  \\  \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x =  \frac{ \frac{6}{7} }{2}  \\  \\ \rightarrow\sf \: x =  \frac{\cancel6}{7}  \times  \frac{1}{ \cancel2}  \\  \\ \rightarrow \sf \: \: x =   \boxed{\bf \: \frac{3}{7}}

therefore, a rational number between 2/7 and 4/7 is equal to 3/7 .
