This question is based on basic concept of complex number. in a complex number, two parts are included ; first one is real and second one is imaginary.

A = (a + ib) is known as complex number. here, a is real part and ib is imaginary part.

concept : if (a_1+\iota b_1)=(a_2+\iota b_2)

then, a_1=a_2 and b_1=b_2

given, 2y + i(3x - y) = 5 - 2i

⇒ 2y = 5 and (3x - y) = -2

now, 2y = 5 ⇒y = 5/2 = 2.5 and (3x - y) = -2

⇒3x - 2.5 = -2

⇒3x = 2.5 - 2 = 0.5

⇒x = 0.5/3 ≈ 0.1667

hence, x = 0.1667 and y = 2.5
