The correct answer to the question is 0.978.

CALCULATION;

As per the question, we are asked to calculate the refractive index of water with respect to alcohol.

The refractive index of any medium 2 with respect to medium 1 is calculated as -

                             \mu_{2}^1=\frac{\mu_{2}} { \mu_{1}}

Here, \mu_{2}  is the refractive index of medium 2 with respect to air

         \mu_{1} is the refrcative index of the medium 1 with respect to air

The refractive index of the water with respect to air is \mu_{w} = 1.33

The refractive index of the alcohol with respect to air is \mu_{a} = 1.36

Here, we have taken a common value of refractive index of alcohol with respect to air.

Hence, the refractive index of water with respect to alcohol is calculated as-

                          \mu_{w}^a\ =\ \frac{\mu_{w}} {\mu_{a}}

                                 = \frac{1.33}{1.36}

                                 = 0.978    [ans}
