Explanation-

x^2 + x - p(p-1) = 0

=> x^2 + x - p^2 + p = 0

=> x^2 - p^2 = - (x + p)

=> (x+p) (x-p) = - (x + p)

=> (x - p) = -1

=> x = (p - 1)
