GIVEN

(X-1/2X+1)+(2X+1/X-1)=5/2

LET

(X-1/2X+1)=A

SO

A+1/A=5/2

MULTIPLYING BOTH SIDES WITH 'A'

WE GET

2(A^2+1)=5A

2A^2+2-5A=0

2A^2 -4A- A+ 2=0

2A(A-2)-1(A-2)=0

(2A-1)(A-2)=0

SO A =1/2 AND 2

WHEN A= 2

(X-1/2X+1)=2

X-1=4X+2

-3X=3

X=-1

WHEN A=1/2

(X-1/2X+1)=1/2

2X-2=2X+1

here we can see x will be UNDEFINED so x= -1 only

thanks for asking
