2x²-x-6=0

so, by splitting the middle term, we obtain

2x² - 4x + 3x - 6 = 0

so, 2x ( x - 2 ) +3 ( x - 2 ) = 0

so, ( x - 2 ) ( 2x + 3 ) = 0

so, ( x - 2 ) = 0 and ( 2x + 3 ) = 0

so, x = 2 and x = -3/2

hence the two roots are 2 and -3/2

I hope this will help you somehow..
