Find roots of the following quadratic equation x^2 - 1/12x-1/12=0

just we had to solve the equation then use splitting the middle term

x²-1/12x-1/12= 0
(12x²-x-1)=0
By quadratic formula,
x=(-b±√b²-4ac)/2a
On comparing 12x²-x-1 with ax²+bx+ c
we get a= 12;b=-1;c=-1

therefore, x= [-(-1)±√(-1)²-4(12)(-1)]/2(12)
x= [1 ± √ 1+48]/24
x= (1±√49)/ 24
x= (1+7)/24 or (1-7)/24
x= 8/24 or -6/24
x= 1/3 or -1/4
