The 12th term from the end of A.P. is 27.

Given:

  • An A.P.
  • 3,6,9...,60

To find:

  • 12th term from the end.

Solution:

Formula to be used:

nth term of A.P. \bf a_n = a+(n-1)d

Step 1:

Write A.P. in reverse order.

60, 57, 54, ..., 6, 3.

here,

First term (a)=60

Common difference (d)=-3

n=12

Step 2:

Find 12th term from starting of 60, 57, 54, ..., 6, 3 is actually 12th term from end of A.P. 3,6,9...,60.

So,

a_{12} = 60 + (12 - 1)( - 3) \\

or

a_{12} = 60 - 33 \\

or

\bf a_{12} = 27 \\

Thus,

The 12th term from the end of A.P. is 27.
