Arithmetic Progression in mathematics is a sequence of numbers in order in which the difference between consecutive numbers is constant value. It is also known as arithmetic Sequence.

Formula :

aₙ = a + (n-1)d

AP IS 2,6,10…..86

Find

Find the 15th term from last

Solution

Let us consider the last term as the first term as a

Using Arithmetic Progression Formula

a = 86

d = 2-6 = -4

a₁₅ = a + (n-1)d

= 86 + (15-1)(-4)

= 86 + (15)(-4)

= 86 – 56

= 30

a₁₅ = 30

Hence the 15th term from last in the AP 2,6,8, ……. 86 is 30.
