 Given \: linear \: equation \: in \: two \\variables \:x \: and \: y \: is :\: x + 2y = 5

 \implies 2y = 5 - x

 \implies y = \frac{ 5 - x }{2}

 i) Put \: x = 1 \: then y = \frac{ 5 - 1}{2}

 \implies y = \frac{4}{2} = 2

 ii) Put \: x = 5 \: then y = \frac{ 5 - 5}{2}

 \implies y = \frac{0}{2} = 0

 Plotting \: the \: points \: A( 1, 2 ) \: and \\ B(5,0)\: on \:the \: graph \: joining \:them \: we \\get \: a \: straight \: line

 Compare \: x + 2y - 5 = 0 \:with \: ax + by + c =0\\we \: get

 a = 1 , \: b = 2 \: and \: c = -5

 \red{ Slope \: of \: the \: line \:(m) } \\= \frac{ -a}{b} \\= \frac{ - 1}{2}
