a1st=a=100
a2nd=a+d=70
=100+d=70
d=-30
a40th=a+39d
=100+39(-30)
=100-1170
=-1070

a=100, d=100-70=30
We know that,
tn= a+(n-1)d
t40= 100 + (40-1) 30
= 100+ 39×30
=100+ 1170
= 1270
