a8=9 ---------a+7d

a15=65------a+14d

by elimination,

a+7d =9

a+14d=65

-----------------

-7d= -56

d= -56/-7=8

a= a+7d=9

a+56=9

a=9-56= -47

∴ a5= a+4d

a5= -47+4 x 8

a5= -47+32

a5 = -15
