Answer:

base of triangle = x

and side of square = x

now area of triangle = 1/2 * b * h

and area of square = side * side

now according to statement 

1/2 * b* h = side * side

1/2 * x * h = x *x

h = 2 *x*x/x

h = 2x

So altitude = 2x
