Find the altitude of the sun, if the shadow of a vertical pole is

Answer:

Let the angle of elevation be θ

and the triangle formed be ABC

where AB = height of the pole

BC = shadow of the pole

According to question

BC = AB/√3

Tan θ = AB/BC

= AB/AB/√3

= AB*√3/AB

Tan θ = √3

Tan 60 = √3

:. θ = 600
