M₂ - molarity of new solution after dilution

V₂ - volume of new solution

M₁ = 1/50 M

M₂ = 1/100* = 0.01 M

200 * 1/50 = 0.01* V₂

4/ 0.01 = V₂

V₂ = 400 ml

volume of water added = total volume of solution - initial volume of solution

                                       = 400 - 200

                                       = 200 ml
